Description
This is a very fancy shirt designed by Patagonia for use by SOF units in jungle environments. Patagonia is a manufacturer of premium outdoor gear that branched out into military clothing during the War on Terror. They made a wide variety of cold weather clothes, combat clothing, and standard field uniforms for various SOF units, but are probably best known for their cold weather gear.
This shirt is made of a lightweight, 100% Nylon material that sheds water very quickly and allows for great ventilation. The shirt is very soft, and extremely light, because of the fabric, and has a more relaxed fit. The shirt buttons up and all of the pockets use buttons or button snaps. This allows contents to be secure when wading through deep waters and drain easier, all while allowing for better airflow. As opposed to hook and loop which can easily come loose when wet. There is a button under each shoulder pocket that lines up with an elastic loop inside the sleeve to keep sleeves rolled up in hot weather. Large mesh panels on the inside of the shirt offer ventilation, and there is a large flap in the back for the same purpose. The mesh also helps to keep bugs off your skin. The collar can be flipped up into a mandarin style or left down like a traditional uniform shirt. The shoulder pockets have minimal loop space, just enough for flags or callsign patches. Overall, this is a great shirt for temperate environments with high temperatures and lots of moisture.
Features:
- This is Fancy – This item has been deemed Fancy by the Cataloging Team.
- Multicam – Originally design in the early 2000’s as a competitor to UCP, Multicam was passed over after the selection of UCP. Even with UCP being adopted the camo would still see widespread use by special operations forces across the US Military in Iraq and Afghanistan. As UCP was found to not be suitable and replacements were searched for Multicam was selected as the interim camo for use by deploying US Army Soldiers. The camo would not be issued in full scale within the US Military. With its selection for use in Afghanistan it was known as OEF Pattern. Garrison uniforms in Multicam were never made, with all Multicam uniforms issued in the US Army being fire resistant. Multicam was replaced by OCP, when it became the standard camo pattern for the US Army in 2015. Due to the similarity of Multicam and OCP the gear and equipment in those patterns, not uniforms, are commonly intermixed until widespread issue of OCP was completed.
