Description
This is a very neat piece of pre-GWOT history from Kuwait. This is a shirt that would have been originally made for the Kuwait National Guard, but was likely repurposed by partner forces to US forces in the early stages of the Iraq war. The pattern is somewhat similar to the Amoeba camo used by Kuwaiti commandos, but with the “chip” style pieces that were common at the time. This uniform has MP (Military Police) shoulder badges, with an 18th Military Police Brigade Combat Team patch. The Arabic writing on the shoulder piece says “Military Police” as well. The uniform has epaulettes on the shoulders for soviet style rank sleeves, and the pockets close via hook and loo. Besides that, this uniform is pretty similar to standard US uniforms. Although the fabric content isn’t listed anywhere on the garment, it feels slightly more abrasive than 50/50 NYCO but not as rough as a cotton poly blend, and is overall pretty comfortable. The top is made by Al Ansari and Bhasin Co. which is a manufacturer that works extensively with Middle Eastern militaries, and still produces uniforms for the Kuwait National guard. Overall this is a cool piece of history, and surprisingly high quality given its back story.
