This system was used by the US Military starting in 1973 and was replaced with MOLLE gear. The system uses simple metal clips (slide, belt keepers) to mount pouches and accessories to webbing on gear and equipment.
- ALICE System – All Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment. The ALICE system was the replacement and upgrade to all load bearing systems in the US Military that came before it. The base of the system was the M1972 system, which after only a short period of time after introduction would be changed over the the ALICE system. Base components from the M1972 system would be kept and upgraded. The system, like its predecessors, included the baseline gear for an individual to sustain themselves in a combat area. Pouches and accessories were attached by slide, belt keepers aka ALICE clips. The system was introduced in 1973 and would be used up into the early 2000’s as standard issue. It would see continued use in training environments till around 2010 as well. The ALICE system would be replaced by MOLLE gear, and used along side it for a time as well.
Throughout the development of ALICE the designation LC-1 and LC-2 are used on a variety of gear. LC-1 equipment is gear from the initial M1972 system. Gear from that system that was carried over to ALICE would receive upgrades, improved components and materials, and be designated LC-2.

I ordered the ALICE pistol belt, green, large, in what was supposed to be “defective” condition. When my box of gear from Venture Surplus arrived, everything looked in brand new condition, nothing even had that musty warehouse smell you get with surplus, and the adjustment and keeper clips are tight as new. Nowhere is there even scuffing or chipped paint. Of the several shades of green it comes in, mine came in the Marine Corps olive green. It has a very clear “U.S.” stamped on it, nice rigidity, and the sturdy, heavy-duty buckle proudly displays the ITW Nexus logo. Since I mostly keep my pistol belt set up for .45 ACP, I think I will put my .45 mag pouches, holster. KA-BAR, etc… on this belt and set my old veteran pistol belt up for .40 caliber or some magnum revolver stuff. I will definitely be ordering from Venture Surplus again, as well as recommending them to friends. I also thank Venture Surplus for letting me add this to my order I had already placed that evening so I could get the free shipping, as I had meant to and got distracted. That’s how you do great customer service. They give fast shipping with tracking ( They sent me a tracking number within the hour as well, and I use standard, USPS ). They even threw in a sticker. Thanks Venture, you guys are totally awesome ~ Jay Wisener

My belt I got was a defective one in label but other than the corrosion it was still very useable just not very pretty to look at.
