Description
This is an APEC Parka in OCP that is used by the US Military. It is somewhat similar to the ECWCS Level 6 jackets, but a bit heavier in construction. It features two large pockets with hook and loop closures on the stomach and regular hoodie style pockets behind them, allowing it to function as a standalone jacket without relying on layers underneath to have pockets. The shoulders also have pockets with hook and loop closures. There are also two flat chest pockets that close with a covered water resistant zipper. Zippers on the armpits allow for ventilation during warm weather. Inside the collar is a stowable hood to keep the user’s head dry. The wrist cuffs re adjustable with hook and loop and the waist is adjustable with shock cord and cord locks found inside the large front pockets. Overall this is a great jacket in a versatile pattern, and extra interesting because it’s a navy item in OCP.
Features:
- Scorpion Camouflage, OCP – When Multicam was adopted as the replacement for UCP during deployment operations it was also considered for Army wide adoption for uniforms and gear. Licensing fees for the Multicam pattern were deemed to high and the US Army took to the predecessor, Scorpion OCP. Scorpion OCP had been developed alongside Multicam and shares most of the same design. Side by side Multicam and Scorpion look much the same, with differences being subtle. The base color of Scorpion is green, compared to brown in Multicam and the shading of all colors was changed slightly. Scorpion also has no vertical elements in the camo. Scorpion is currently referred to as OCP, or Operational Camouflage Pattern and is used for US Army Uniforms and most Army gear.
- Waterproof – Waterproof means that it will not absorb water or be damaged when submerged in water.
- Stow Away Hood – There is a stow away hood in the jackets collar for inclement weather.
- Chest Pockets – Has pockets on the front of the chest.
- Shoulder Pockets – Includes pockets on the shoulder for small items.
- APECS – All Purpose Environmental Clothing System. APECS is similar to the US Army ECWCS hard shell systems. They are lightweight and are less noisy then their ECWCS equivalent. APECS is primarily a USMC clothing system.
