Description
Case, Small Arms Ammunition, 30 Round Magazine (M-16 Rifles) – that’s the official government name for these pouches. This is a triple mag pouch that was used in the USMC during the early adoption of the M16 rifle and it’s 30 round magazines. With the scarcity of pouches capable of holding multiple 30 round mags, the USMC adopted this pouch in 1971 even though it had been rejected for use by the military in general. Reasons for rejection were centered around the individual flaps that secure each mag inside. These flaps, while holding the mags very securely, are slow to operate thus leading to its rejection. Other then the flaps the pouch follows the same layout and function of the standard ALICE triple mag pouch that would be adopted.
